Does the 2016 Ford Mustang need Premium Gas?
Owning a sports car like the Ford Mustang can be incredibly fulfilling and fun, but it does have a lot of responsibilities that go with it as well. Because it is often a larger investment, most owners feel compelled to take very good care of their vehicle — which is a good thing! We’re always happy when we get to see a well-maintained vehicle, especially if it’s something nice like the Mustang. One thing that many owners stress about is whether or not the 2016 Ford Mustang needs premium gas.
What gas should you use in the 2016 Mustang?
The 2016 Ford Mustang has three engines — not including the Shelby model — and Ford recommends using fuel with an octane of 87 or more, which means you don’t have to use a premium fuel in your Mustang. The Mustang will adjust to how much octane is in the fuel, and make alterations so that you shouldn’t have an engine knocking problem, but it is normal for occasional, light knocking.

Is it worth putting premium gas in the 2016 Ford Mustang?
So whether or not you should use premium gas in the Ford Mustang is completely up to you and what works best for your situation. We certainly can’t fault anyone for wanting to use regular fuel in the Mustang to avoid the price increase of premium. On the other hand, using premium gas means that you’ll be giving your engine what it was built for — and you’ll see an increase in performance because of it.
