Read Ford Warning Lights
One question that’s bound to come up at some point while you own a vehicle is “What does that light mean?” when you’re looking at your dash. While you probably won’t have all of them memorized at any point, and some are intuitive enough that you can know what they’re telling you without having to look it up, it’s a good idea to know how to read Ford warning lights and where you can get more information for specific lights you aren’t sure about. Today we’ll give you a little more information about what some of the lights in your Ford mean, what you should do if you see them, and where you can learn more.
Some lights are a familiar sight for many – your engine oil is low, you’re almost out of gas, or you haven’t fastened your safety belt. These are things that are easy to understand and take care of – just make sure that you do!
One important thing to remember when one of your warning lights comes on is not to panic, but an equally important piece of advice is not to ignore it! Many people see a warning light they’re not familiar with, maybe the coolant button that looks kind of like a radiator or the engine air filter symbol that looks like an arrow going through something, and don’t want to deal with the potential expenses of taking it in so they chalk it up to a computer problem and carry on. This can be exceptionally dangerous if there’s something wrong with your vehicle. Consult your manual, ask a friend to look, or bring it in to our service center to check it out.
The first place you can always look to decode the symbols on your dash is the owner’s manual. But if you are looking online for answers, it’s possible that you don’t have your manual handy – it happens. Here’s a link to where you can find the owner’s manual to most Ford models online in PDF format. Let us know if you have any questions!
