The 2026 Ford Escape Is the Final Model Year
Ford ended Escape production in December 2025 to retool its Louisville, Kentucky plant for a future electric vehicle. The 2026 Ford Escape is the last new Escape Ford will build, which means the vehicles currently in stock or in transit to Holiday Ford are the final new-Escape inventory available in Fond du Lac. Once this stock sells out, there won't be a 2027 Escape to replace it.
That doesn't mean the Escape is a bad choice today. It means the buying decision is a little different: check current availability, and don't expect to special-order a specific color or package the way you could with a vehicle still in production.
What You Get in the Final Ford Escape Lineup
The 2026 Escape is offered in six trims: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and the plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Powertrain and drivetrain vary by trim:
- Active and ST-Line come standard with a turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available
- ST-Line Select and above upgrade to a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine with standard all-wheel drive
- A hybrid powertrain is available on ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, and Platinum, and comes with all-wheel drive only
- The PHEV (plug-in hybrid) trim can run on electric power alone for short trips before its gas engine engages
Ford Co-Pilot360® driver-assist technology — including blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision mitigation, and rear cross-traffic alert — is standard across the lineup, with an upgraded Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package (adaptive cruise control, lane centering) available on higher trims. Behind the rear seats, the Escape offers roughly 37.5 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to about 65.4 cubic feet with the 60/40 split-folding second row folded down.
Feature and engine availability is trim-specific, so confirm exactly what's equipped on any Escape you're looking at with a Guest Experience Manager.
Should You Buy One of the Last New Ford Escapes?
The Escape is worth considering if you want a compact SUV at a price point below Holiday Ford's larger crossovers, and you're comfortable buying from whatever configurations remain in current or incoming inventory rather than ordering a specific build. It may not be the right choice if you're set on a particular trim, color, or package combination that isn't currently available, since Ford won't be building more.
Existing and newly purchased Escapes will continue to be supported through Ford's dealer service network, including Holiday Ford's own service department, the same as any other Ford model.
Why Fond du Lac Area Shoppers Choose Holiday Ford for a Final-Year Escape
Shoppers travel to Holiday Ford from Oshkosh, Appleton, and Ripon for a large, regularly updated inventory and a low-pressure buying process. Our Guest Experience Managers work on a non-commissioned basis, so if you're weighing a final-year Escape against another compact SUV, the goal is helping you compare honestly rather than pushing you toward whichever vehicle is left on the lot.
If you're cross-shopping for winter driving in Wisconsin, all-wheel drive is worth prioritizing on rural highways and unplowed roads, but note that AWD isn't available on every Escape trim and is required (not optional) on hybrid models. Confirm drivetrain on the specific unit you're considering.
Frequently Asked Questions About the 2026 Ford Escape
Is Ford still making the Escape?
No. Ford ended Escape production in December 2025 as part of retooling its Louisville plant for a future electric vehicle. The 2026 model year is the final gas and hybrid Ford Escape.
Will Ford Escape parts and service still be available?
Yes. Existing and newly sold Escapes will continue to be supported through Ford's dealer service network, including Holiday Ford's service department, the same as any other Ford model on the road today.
Is the Escape name going away for good?
Not necessarily. Some automotive outlets have reported Ford may bring back the Escape nameplate as an all-electric model around 2029, but that is a future product plan and not something Holiday Ford can confirm or promise today.
Does the 2026 Ford Escape come with all-wheel drive?
It depends on trim. Active and ST-Line offer AWD as an option; ST-Line Select and above include it standard; hybrid models are AWD-only. Confirm drivetrain on the specific vehicle you're considering.
Is now a good time to buy a new Ford Escape?
It can be, if you want a compact SUV and are open to the trims and colors currently available rather than a custom order. Because this is the final model year, remaining inventory won't be replenished the way it would with a vehicle still in production, so it's worth checking current stock before deciding.
