It’s no secret that here at Holiday Ford we are really looking forward to the upcoming arrival of the new 2015 Ford F-150 in Fond du Lac. This redesigned truck is taking Ford’s already-winning formula for putting together a pickup that’s tough and ready for anything and upping the ante in some really exciting ways, such as military-grade aluminum alloy replacing hundreds of pounds of steel in the body, and an improved engine lineup. One thing that a redesigned truck will always have to prove to drivers is that its up to the toughest challenges, and that’s why the 2015 Ford F-150 testing process has been and continues to be so rigorous.
Ford has made things even more interesting with this release by an offer made to F-150 fans earlier this year: YOU test it! Drivers with tough jobs were offered the chance to test the new F-150 in the field — with some incredible results. The first of those videos has recently been released, and at the top of this post you can view it yourself. Brian Schober, the first tester featured in the video series, works as a test engineer for a defense contractor out in Arizona. His daily work consists of testing vehicles in extreme desert conditions to make sure they’re up to the important task of withstanding these conditions overseas when our military men and women need them the most. The grueling course consists of 36 hours and 500 miles — nonstop, in the desert — to see how vehicles can withstand a number of conditions: extreme heat, extreme cold, rocks, and sand, all over a sustained period of time.
We were definitely impressed by how the 2015 Ford F-150 held up and performed during those harsh conditions, and so was Mr. Schober! Stay tuned for more test videos — looks like upcoming entries will put the new F-150s towing and hauling ability to the test, along with a trip up to the Arctic Circle!
