Ford Fusion Tire Pressure Monitoring System
The system works by using special sensors that are attached to the valve stems of each of your four road tires. It is constantly monitoring the pressure in all four road tires, so when one of your tires becomes under-inflated by an amount that could be problematic for you, a light will come on for you on the dashboard (see image to the right).
What to do if you see the light? You’ll need to manually check the pressure in all four tires to determine which one is low. the label inside your door tells you exactly what the ideal pressure should be for all four of your tires, so be sure to use that as a guide.
So I never have to check the tires myself? Even though you’ve got the system on your side, you should still be checking them once a month — probably more like twice in winter when tire pressure is known to suffer much more – and before an extended journey.
What if the warning light is on but I don’t think my tire pressure is low? There are two reasons you might see the light other than a standard low-pressure issue. One reason could be that you’re driving with a spare tire. This is not monitored by the system and so you’ll see the light as a reminder to switch that out. The other reason is that your tire pressure monitoring system is not working properly. In that case, please bring your Ford Fusion in to our service center and we’ll see if we can help you identify the problem.
