Jan 16, 2015

It may be a ways off, but we’re pretty sure it’s never to early to start getting pumped for a new F-150 Raptor. These beasts have been dominating the performance off-road truck world since their inception for the 2010 model year, and this month’s early reveal of what the 2017 model has in store certainly won’t be disappointing any of the Raptor’s many die-hard fans. So, now you’re probably wondering, in addition to all sorts of details about what’s going to change and improve on the new model, when is the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor release date? We’ll tell you everything we know right here:

First of all, what will be different on the 2017 Raptor?

All-new Engine: The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor off-road performance truck will be have an all-new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that increases the horsepower and torque even over the current Raptor’s V8’s incredible output of 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. That’s sophisticated engineering at work for you, and it’s going to make things more powerful and efficient than ever on and off the road.

Of course, there will also be the same big switch all the other F-150s have undergone for the 2015 model year, and that’s a military-grade aluminum alloy body that, in the case of the raptor, shaves off over 500 pounds of weight compared with the most recent 2014 model. Capability will improve as a results, and so will overall performance.

There are larger standard shocks by FOX Racing Shocks, and a new torque-on-demand transfer case will help drivers keep power distribution under tight control between the front wheels and the rear wheels. Other standard features will include dual exhaust, a new Terrain Management System, and 17-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires that were designed specifically with the Raptor in mind.

Alright, so now that you know just how great it’s going to be, when’s that release date for the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor? It’s slated to be built at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, and will go on sale in the fall of 2016.
