Apple watch in Ford Vehicle

The much-anticipated Apple Watch has just gone on sale, and the tech enthusiasts among us are busy delving into all of the different ways this new device can function in ways that go beyond the popular smartphone and tablet options. For many, the convenience factor of having notifications go to one’s wrist instead of having to dig around for a phone are significant enough on their own, and there’s a lot more functionality to explore from there.

Our question is, of course: Will the Apple Watch work with Ford SYNC? Our main concern as your local Ford dealer is to find out whether and how this new technology can pair up with your Ford SYNC system while you’re on the road for even more hands-free accessibility and entertainment.

While a couple of luxury car brands already have Apple Watch apps, most automakers are going to be a bit slower on the uptake in order to see how the watch fits into the daily lives of its users and how quickly its popularity spreads. That said, there’s certain takeaways we can gather from the existing apps: You may be able to unlock your vehicle, check your tire pressure or fuel, take a look at your battery life on plug-in or hybrid models, find your car with GPS, and remotely adjust the climate control system.

As for the Ford SYNC system, one thing we know the Apple Watch will have is Bluetooth compatibility and the ability to send music to Bluetooth headphones. Your Ford SYNC infotainment system shouldn’t be far behind in future models.

As we get more information about how your Ford vehicle could potentially pair up with the new Apple Watch, we’ll definitely keep you updated.
