Ford GT inspired foosball table
Chances are that by now you’ve heard of the Ford GT since its Detroit reveal earlier this year: the all-new Ford supercar has been a sensation for its ultra-sleek styling, dynamic design, innovative technology, and out-of-this-world performance. At the very least, it’s simply gorgeous to look at.
Now, you’re probably less if at all familiar with Salone del Mobile, an Italian furniture fair held annually in Milan to showcase furniture and design from all over the world. Why would you be? Well, if you’re a big enough fan of the Ford GT, one display from the event will definitely be of interest. What would a Ford GT inspired foosball table look like, for example? Here it is:
For Salone del Mobile, Ford designers used the Ford GT’s stunning interior design to inspire them to create a range of non-automobile objects for the display at Salone del Mobile.
Why? The Ford GT design philosophy is guided by some basic principles that needn’t be restricted to the automobile, so Ford thought it’s design team should stretch those creative muscles a little further and see what else the GT interior design aesthetic could be used toward.
First, an outline of the principles at play:
- Clarity of intent – This just means that the main function of the object is clear and recognizable
- Innovation – While the purpose of the object will certainly be clear, it should be presented in a way that’s refreshing and pushes boundaries
- Connection – When a user comes in contact with the object, it should be simple and intuitive all the while it challenges expectations
