It’s no secret around these parts that Mustang pulled a game-changing move with its fully redesigned 2015 Ford Mustang, which you’re welcome to come in and check out for yourself anytime here at Holiday Ford if you’re curious! Now for 2016, one of the most well-known Mustang competitors, the Chevy Camaro, is hopping on the scene with its own redesign.
We may be a Ford store and we sure love our Mustang, but we’ve got nothing but love for the Camaro as well — there’s room for more than one all-American pony car on the scene, after all! So today this comparison between the 2016 Ford Mustang vs 2016 Chevy Camaro is meant to give you information that you’ll actually find useful rather than sway you in one way or the other. So let’s get to it!
Engine Options
Let’s cut to the chase: When it comes to cars like the Mustang and the Camaro, power is essential and it’s a major factor in which model we’re going to seriously consider. Starting with the standard offerings, the Camaro starts us out with its 2.0-liter EcoBoost, which offers 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
For the Mustang, you’ve got a 3.7-liter V6 offering 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. From there, when the Camaro gets an upgrade its to its 335-horsepower V6, and the next engine in the Ford lineup is actually it’s EcoBoost four-cylinder rated at an impressive 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.
Now, how about those V8s? For the Camaro you’re looking at a 6.2-liter that gets 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque (this comes over to the Camaro from its striking cousin the Corvette Stingray), and the Mustang offers a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that gets you 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Price Difference Between the Mustang and Camaro
So, how about the almighty price tag? The Camaro’s not officially out yet, and thus we don’t have pricing for it at this time. But if we’re comparing the two based on the Camaro’s 2015 pricing, which we don’t anticipate will change a whole lot, we’ve got a base Mustang at $24,625 and a base Camaro that should start right in that $24,000-range as well. V8 models for both will probably be somewhere in the $33,000 neighborhood. All in all, you can expect very similar pricing for the 2016 Ford Mustang and the 2016 Chevy Camaro.
