It’s CES 2016 week, so naturally technology in cars has been getting plenty of attention recently, with Ford in particular getting plenty of new information being released. One question that many people ask us is whether or not you can get 4G internet in a Ford car. But also, what would having 4G in your car allow you to all do? We’ll cover it all in this helpful post!

Can you get 4G Internet in a Ford Car?Ford SYNC with 4G Internet

So one of the big recent announcements from Ford is that soon those running SYNC 3 in new models will also get a complimentary 4G LTE internet service (for the first five years) to connect them to their car in new, innovative ways. Soon, owners will be able to remotely lock or unlock their doors from anywhere, locate their vehicle via GPS, start their car, and look up information like fuel level or tire pressure — all from a smartphone!

One of the coolest features that will be available with a Ford with 4G internet is the ability to schedule a remote start time. This means that if you’re a creature of habit, and know exactly when you’ll be leaving for work, you can set it up to have your car ready for you every day. No more cold mornings!

Can you get 4G Wi-Fi in a Ford?

So, as of right now there’s been no word on whether Ford vehicles in the future will also come with the ability to create a Wi-Fi hotspot with your 4G LTE internet, but we’re guessing it won’t be too long before we hear more about this. An internet hotspot in a Ford would be the next logical step after connecting the car via 4G, especially with the tech-focused and always-connected culture we have.

Ford SYNC Connect’s 4G service will launch in spring with the 2017 Ford Escape, but every 2017 Ford that can use SYNC 3 will be able to make use of this cool, new technology.
