Heavy-duty trucks like the Ford Super Duty are built for one purpose — being able to do an astonishing amount of work. Being able to tow heavy loads with a Super Duty is convenient, but trying to look past your trailer can be the exact opposite — unless you’re prepared. The 2017 Super Duty has an available Trailer Reverse Guidance feature to give you the perfect vision when trying to backup a trailer.

What does Trailer Reverse Guidance in the 2017 Super Duty do?

So here are the basics on the Trailer Reverse Guidance feature: basically it gives you the vision you you need when reversing a trailer to stay safe. It’s not about learning how to reverse — if you own a Super Duty we’re pretty confident that you have that in check. Instead, it gives you vision of what is around you and your trailer, so you can be confident that nothing is obstructing your path. The video below does a great job of explaining it!

How many Cameras can be equipped to the 2017 Ford Super Duty?

Trailer Guidance uses three total cameras, but they aren’t the only ones that your Ford Super Duty can use. Because Ford knows that having better vision of your surroundings can only help, you can attach a total of seven cameras to the Super Duty. We’ve listed their locations below:

  • Tailgate Camera — tracks a conventional trailer
  • Two side-view cameras — shift the view of the trailer in turns
  • Back of trailer camera — you can place it on the back of your trailers to give you better rear-view vision
  • Center high-mounted camera — gives you view of the cargo box, which is perfect for hooking up gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers
