2016 EAA Auction Mustang based on the P-51D Mustang Aircraft
This year’s 2016 EAA Auction Mustang is known as “Ole Yeller” and is based on the iconic P-51D Mustang Aircraft as well as legendary pilot Bob Hoover. While last year’s EAA Auction Mustang was based on the new Ford GT, this year’s model will instead be built on the Ford GT350 Mustang with a 5.2L Ti-VCT V8 engine with a flat plane crank — which is the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine Ford has ever produced. This Mustang has 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque to offer.

What does the EAA Mustang Auction benefit?
The Ford GT350 Mustang stylized after Ole Yeller will be sold at the EAA Gathering of Eagles gala — which annually draws more than 1,000 aviation enthusiasts. Proceeds from the event will support EAA’s youth education programs that help inspire the next generation of engineers, aviators, astronauts, scientists and innovations. This is the ninth straight year that Ford has donated a custom Mustang for the EAA Gathering of Eagles auction, which in total have raised more than $3 million for youth education. The 2016 Gathering of Eagles auction will be held on July 28 during EAA’s Airventure — which draws thousands of aviation enthusiasts from all over the world.
