We can help with that. All you need to do is follow the simple step-by-step guide that we have provided down below.
Ford Hands-Free Liftgate Step-By-Step Guide
- With the hands-free liftgate, there’s no need to set down your cargo. So simply leave it in your hands. You will, however, need to have your key fob outside the vehicle and within 3-feet of the liftgate, so it’s best to have it in your pocket or purse.
- Swing your foot, forward then backward, underneath the center of the rear bumper, in the same location as your license plate.
- Next, take a step or two back so that the liftgate has space to open. The liftgate will wait briefly to allow you time to do so.
- Once you’ve put your cargo in the back of your Ford, you can press the liftgate close button on the liftgate, or simply swing your foot underneath the bumper once more. Either way will work.
Keep in mind that the liftgate can also be opened using your key fob, through a button on the instrument panel or using the button on the liftgate handle. Plus, the one exception to the guide above is for vehicles with an available trailer tow package, you can swing your foot under the bumper to the left or right of the tow hitch.
