However, with the second row up, the Explorer beats the Flex by just .6 cubic-feet, and with all the seats up the Explorer actually provides more cargo room with 21 cubic-feet compared to 20 cubic-feet for the Flex.
Power and towing of the Flex and Explorer
When it comes to max power, it’s a dead tie at 365 horsepower, which makes sense considering they both share a V6 EcoBoost engine option at the top end.
However, power doesn’t always mean capability, and the Explorer actually gives you more towing capacity with a 5,000-pound capacity compared to the 4,500-pound capacity for the Flex.
