2019 Ford Mustang engine options
For many cars, what’s under the hood is merely to get you from A to B, and maybe to have a tiny bit of fun along the way. The Mustang is a little different. It’s all about what’s under the hood because every drive should have your pulse pounding and your face grinning. Let’s take a look at the 2019 Ford Mustang engine options and help you figure out which one you need in your life.
Base model engine for the Mustang
We always say you can tell a lot about a vehicle’s performance pedigree by simply looking at the base model engine. Here, the Mustang doesn’t disappoint. The entry-level models are the EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium. They both share a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine that puts up big numbers.
With 310 horsepower and an insane 350 pound-feet of torque, this engine is nothing short of impressive. It’s made even more impressive by the fact that it can provide up to 21-city mpg and 32-highway mpg.

Does the Mustang have a V8 option?
Mustang models throughout history are known for cramming a monstrous V8 into a small nimble car. The modern Mustang is no different.

Other performance Mustang options
For 2019, there will be three other versions of the Mustang that you should keep on your radar. First, you have the Bullitt. This is a special edition that pays homage to the movie of the same name. The Bullitt will sport the same engine as the GT but with a little more power at 475 horsepower.
The Shelby GT350 has even more power on tap with a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that thrums with 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. Those that know Mustang history also know that the Shelby GT350 has historically had a bigger brother called the Shelby GT500, and for 2019 it will be coming back.
The Mustang Shelby GT500 hasn’t had a production model since 2014, but 2019 aims to change that. Not a lot of details are yet known except that it will have a V8, it will be supercharged, and it will have over 700 horsepower. Ford is promising the most powerful street-legal production Ford ever.
