Power
There’s no denying it. The 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 is the most powerful street-legal car ever built by Ford. Out of the gate, it’s fully loaded with 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque from a 5.2-liter V-8 supercharged engine. It will be able to hit 60 miles per hour in less than three seconds. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission changes gears in less than 100 milliseconds. You read that right. This is one serious vehicle, with more power than most of the competitors in its class.
For stopping power, you’ve got the huge 16.5-inch brake rotors and six-position calipers. Add in the available 20-inch carbon fiber wheels, and you’ve got a winner.
Aerodynamics
So, you’ve already got the most powerful Mustang ever, thanks to the 760 horsepower delivered by the engine, but in order to have the fastest, you’ll want to check out the aerodynamics package offered by Ford. In just six months, the company was able to develop splitter wickers and the hood vent using 3D printing technology. All of that work has paid off. The GT500 produces up to 550 pounds of downforce in full attack settings.
Exterior
If you’ve seen the GT350, you’ll understand what the GT500’s look was based upon, though plenty of changes have been made to really make the GT500 its own vehicle. There are new fenders and hood, as well as wide notches outside the headlights. New colors available for the 2020 GT500 include Grabber Lime, Iconic Silver, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Twister Orange Metallic Tinted Clearcoat.
