2020 Ford Plans

Ford has released its plans for 2020 with an announcement that the company is making significant changes to its lineup that will mean the end to all of Ford’s passenger cars with the exception of the ever-popular Mustang.

For Ford enthusiasts, this means the Taurus, C-Max, Focus, Fiesta, and Fusion will not be renewed. Instead, Ford plans to step up production of SUVs and crossovers. The company will also amp up its electrification process with an $11 billion infusion to jump-start the process.

Upcoming 2020 Ford Models

The list of models for 2020 is impressive and exciting. The upcoming models include the Escape, Expedition, Explorer, Ranger, F-150 Hybrid, the Bronco, and the Mustang Shelby GT500.

2020 Escape

Ford is putting the emphasis on the 2020 Escape.  A leader in the small crossover category with a refreshed body style that has more length and width, and is supported by a high-strength steel platform. Both a plug-in hybrid and a conventional model will be available fitted with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and two electric motors with a battery pack. The traditional gas-powered Escape will be fitted with either a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2020 F-150 Hybrid

Initial information for the F-150 Hybrid indicates it will be equipped with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine. It will produce 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and available as rear-wheel drive. The trucks will only be assembled in Dearborn, Michigan.

2020 Expedition

There are no significant changes expected for the larger 2020 Expedition. The SUV will retain its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, 375 horsepower, 470 pound-feet of torque, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and either four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.

2020 Explorer

The 2020 Explorer’s refresh includes availability of two engine choices: a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder producing 300 horsepower, and a 3.3-liter naturally aspirated V-6 engine producing 318 horsepower. Both are paired with a 10-speed transmission.

2020 Ranger

After retiring in 2012, the 2020 Ranger is riding high in the U.S. as a SuperCab or SuperCrew with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. There’s the possibility of an EcoBoost V-6 in the future. The F-150 has a payload capacity of 1,860 pounds and a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds.

2020 Bronco

Making an appearance after many years, the two- or four-door 2020 Bronco is being fitted to be a contender in the mid-size SUV arena. It will be supported by a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. New for the Bronco are removable doors and top.

2020 Mustang Shelby GT500

Power, power, and more power describes the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500.  A  5.2-liter V-8 that uses a supercharger to send the power soaring to 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. The Shelby comes with plenty of upgrades such as 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels and Recaro seats.

There’s plenty to be excited about for 2020 with Ford leading the way with its new line of pony-powered precision and performance vehicles.
