What Is the Top Speed of the New 2017 Ford GT?
The speculation is finally over. Automotive enthusiasts, including us here at Holiday Ford, have guessed as to just how fast the completely new 2017 Ford GT would be, but now we finally have official top speed data to provide to anyone who plans to drive this car in the future or simply admire it.
The new Ford GT is capable of reaching a top speed of 216 mph. This is the highest top speed ever recorded for any of Ford’s production vehicles.
On top of that, the new GT also impressed when testing lap times at the Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada. Ford matched up the car with the McLaren 675LT and the Ferrari 458 Speciale in identical conditions and with the same driver behind the wheel. Though the McLaren and Ferrari posted impressive times to be fair, achieving lap times of 2:10.8 and 2:12.9 respectively, the new GT beat them both with a time of 2:09.8.

New 2017 Ford GT Power to Weight Ratio
Of course, much of the GT’s performance capabilities are thanks to its engine pumping out a whopping 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. But, engineers dug deeper to ensure that this power went the distance by keeping the GT lightweight.
The new GT just tops 3,000 pounds, meaning it can make the most of all that power. For comparison, Mazda’s small and extremely lightweight roadster, the 2016 Miata, weighs in at just under 2,400 pounds. Having only about 600 more pounds and a whole lot more power means the GT will definitely be a thrill.
