Do you need a license to go snowmobiling in Wisconsin?

In Wisconsin, you are required to have a DNR issued trail pass to ride on any public trails. If you are only riding on private land or on frozen water, then a trail pass is not required. To get a trail pass of your own, whether you are an AWSC member, a Wisconsin’s resident, or a non-Wisconsin resident, please click the link below.

Your snowmobile will also need to be registered. If it is already registered out of state, then that’s fine. Otherwise, you will need to register it by filling out the form that we have below and mailing it in. As a side note, snowmobiles that are 35 years old or older can be registered as an antique and the operator will not be required to have a trail pass.
