If you haven’t heard, Ford will be bringing the Focus RS to America for the first time ever! This hot hatch used to be a foreign exclusive, but soon we’ll be able to get our hands on his powerful car. But just how powerful is the Ford Focus RS? Well, ford just announced the official engine specs for the 2016 Ford Focus RS as well as some special safety features that make it more accessible.

Official Engine Specs for the 2016 Ford Focus RS

Previously, estimates were that the Focus RS would offer more than 315 horsepower in the all-new 2016 model. Well, the Focus RS is actually going to be significantly more powerful, and will actually output 350 horsepower, as well as 350 lb.-ft of torque. But what does that all mean in terms of what the Ford Focus RS can do? Well, it will shoot from 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds, and has a top speed of 165 mph — though we don’t recommend trying to hit that!

The Focus RS is powered by a new 2.3L EcoBoost, and the Focus RS even comes with different driving modes like launch control, and an industry first drift mode.

Official Engine Specs for the 2016 Ford Focus RSSafety in the Ford Focus RS

The power that the 2016 Ford Focus RS offers can be a bit tricky for some to get used to at first, but thankfully there’s some creative safety features in the Focus RS just for these circumstances. One of these features is a signal that helps drivers achieve maximum acceleration. When the vehicle is approaching the optimum upshift point, there will be an alert for the driver. Also, there will be a flashing light if the car approaches the maximum rpm limit.

In the event of an engine stall the Focus RS is also the car you want to be driving. This is because it has a great feature that will automatically get the engine running again with a feature called stall recovery — which is based on its other start-stop technology.

Production for the 2016 Focus RS will be beginning later this year. Contact us to let us know if you’re interested in picking one up! Otherwise, have a look at our other new Ford cars.
