When do I need a transmission flush?
There are a lot of services that are available to help keep your vehicle running in peak condition. But which ones are necessary, and when, and how can you tell? There’s always the fear that if you’re not an auto expert, a mechanic might end up pulling your leg here and there to get you to agree to a service of questionable necessity. Today we’ll help you get an idea of what a transmission flush does and some of the warning signs that you could use one, so that the answer to “When do I need a transmission flush?” can be in your hands instead of someone who might be trying to make a few extra bucks. And if you do end up actually needing one, we’ll help you save on that service!
Alright, so we’ll start with the basics: What is a transmission flush? Basically, a service professional is going to hook your transmission up to a professional grade machine that’s going to thoroughly flush out the current fluid — which may contain dirt, debris, and particles that could cause issues in the long run if they’re not already — and fill your system with clean fluid to replace what was flushed out.
Another service along these lines is a drain and fill, which is less extensive but can do the trick depending on your vehicles current condition and your driving habits and particular needs. This won’t drain all of the fluid but will often lead to improved transmission performance and less likelihood of problems arising from old fluid.
Some signs that you might be in need of a transmission flush or drain include: problems with shifting gears, gears that are slipping, or grinding or other unfamiliar noises from the transmission. We’ll be happy to help you diagnose any strange noises here at our service center.
During the month of March 2015, we’ve got a service coupon that you might benefit from if you’re in need of a flush, so check it out here along with our other coupons!
