Plus, thanks to a generous donation by Ford, there’s another reason for us to go. The Ford Apollo Edition Mustang auction is a must see for car lovers, especially fans the Ford Mustang.
What is the Ford Apollo Edition Mustang?
The Ford Apollo Edition Mustang is a one-of-a-kind specially designed 2015 Ford Mustang that will be the premiere item at the EAA Gathering of Eagles live auction. Its design is inspired by the Apollo mission that successfully landed us on the moon.
This will be the eighth one-of-a-kind Mustang that Ford has created for the AirVenture auction, which has raised more than $2.5 million by last year’s count along with other Ford donated vehicles. The 2008 Mustang AV8R, which takes inspiration from the F-22 Raptor, holds the auction record contribution with $500,000. Here’s hoping the new Ford Apollo Edition Mustang is a contender to break it!
What other Ford vehicles will be at AirVenture?
It’s very likely that Ford will be showcasing a wide variety of vehicles during AirVenture at the Ford Hanger. Last year they celebrated 50 Years of Mustang with a bunch of Mustang activities. Ford also brought its entire lineup of new vehicles, including the F-150, Focus, Edge, Expedition, Lincoln MKC and more. We’re hoping this tradition is continued for AirVenture 2015.
What is EAA AirVenture?
AirVenture is a yearly celebration of aviation in the Fox Valley that draws in more than 500,000 people from all around the world. Everything from vintage planes, WWII bombers and hand-built planes, to stealth jets and space travel is at EAA for AirVenture.
When is EAA AirVenture?
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will be happening on July 20-26 at the Wittman Regional Airport. The auction for the Ford Apollo Edition Mustang will happen on July 23.
