Not to long ago Ford gave us our first look at this year’s auction Mustang for the EAA Airventure Gathering of Eagles charity auction. But it was just a teaser. Thankfully, we’ve now got a detailed collection of Ford Apollo Edition Mustang pictures.
2015 Ford Mustang GT
The Apollo Edition is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, with obviously a lot of special customizations. It features a special paint scheme to evoke NASA’s Apollo mission, special carbon fiber parts, and even a LED-lit under-body that gives it an out-of-this-world look. This Mustang is far from just an aesthetic marvel, though. It delivers an astounding 627 horsepower and 540 lb.-ft. of torque to provide plenty of liftoff for its driver and passengers.
About the Gathering of Eagles Charity Event
The EAA GAthering of Eagles gala is hosting the annual event, which is expected to draw over 1,000 aviation enthusiasts. All proceeds from the auction go to providing youth education programs through EAA. The Apollo Edition is not the first unique vehicle developed for EAA. This annual tradition has been going since 2008, and has raised nearly $3 million for youth programs. Past Mustangs include: Mustang AV8R, AV-X10 “Dearborn Doll”, SR-71 Blackbird, Blue Angels Mustang, Red Tails Mustang, US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang, and the F-35 Lightning Edition II Mustang.
