Keeping the exterior of a Ford vehicle clean is a great to make sure it keeps its shine year over year. Doing things like washing and waxing a vehicle is pretty common, but how should you clean the chrome of the exterior of a vehicle? Have some questions on how to clean the chrome on the Ford F-150? Below are some tips to help you out!

What should you use to clean the Chrome on the F-150?

So what should you actually use to clean the chrome on the outside of your F-150? Ford recommends using water and a trusted automotive soap to do the job, but you can also mix a 50-50 solution of water and white vinegar if you don’t have any soap on hand. After you get everything clean you should find a microfiber cloth to wipe everything down until it’s dry. If you let it air dry, there is a good chance you will leave some hard water spots, which can deposit iron and lead to rust.

What to do if there is Rust on your Chrome

So what should you do if rust does happen to appear on some of the chrome exterior of your truck? You’ll want to pick up a good chrome polish and follow the directions of the product. A little rust here and there shouldn’t be too much of a hassle to remove, as long as you try and catch it early. When you have everything clean, a good way to keep your chrome looking nice is to apply some wax to it — yup it’s not just for your paint! Wax will keep all parts of your Ford F-150 shiny and lustrous.
