How to use Ford Active Park Assist

Parallel parking. It’s one of those things people either feel super confident about, or they will walk an extra mile to avoid it altogether. For those of us that are less confident about our skills in that particular arena, it might be time for you to check out some of the latest technology that — believe it or not — basically does the job for you! Today we’ll tell you how to use Ford Active Park Assist and let you decide for yourself if this is a feature you think you’d benefit from opting for on your new Ford model.

How to use Ford Park Assists1. Alright, so take a look at the figure to the right. You’ll see three distinct steps to the process. To begin, you’ll press a button located in your center console, which will activate the ultrasonic sensors. What do they do? They’ll actually measure the space available and identify whether you’ve got enough room to park in the spot. Once it’s determined that you do, we’re on to step two!

2. Your system will ask you to accept parking assistance, which believe it or not will actually take over steering for you entirely. You’ll still need to shift, brake, and accelerate manually, but you’ll be prompted every step of the way.

3. The Active Park Assist system in your Ford will then use the message center as well as a series of chimes to let you know when it’s time to apply gas, brake, or shift. If at any time you’d like to deactivate the system and take over, simply take the wheel into your own hands or use the activation button in the center console.

If you’d like to see a demonstration of this system in person, all you need to do is schedule a test drive with us here at Holiday ford and we’ll gladly help you see Ford Active Park Assist in action! It’s pretty exciting technology that we’re happy to bring to our area drivers in and around Fond du Lac.
