Connecting Your Phone to Android Auto

  1. First, you’ll need to make sure your phone is equipped with Android Auto. If it is not, you’ll want to download the app. If you already have it downloaded, make sure it is updated to the latest version, along with your other Google apps.
  2. Next, you’ll have to enable Android Auto in your vehicle. This can be done by hitting the Settings icon on the vehicle touchscreen, selecting Android Auto Preferences and then sliding the button to the right to enable it.
  3. Next, pull out your smartphone and use a USB cable to plug it into the USB port in your Ford. It’s best to use a cable provided by your phone’s manufacturer.
  4. If this is the first time you’ve connected the phone, a pop-up will appear on your vehicle’s infotainment display stating that some SYNC services will be replaced while connected. You can click Continue if you’d like to connect.
  5. Another pop-up will appear asking you to accept the terms and conditions. Once you’ve done that, you’ll also have to accept terms and conditions on your smartphone.

Connecting Your Phone to Apple CarPlay

  1. Your iPhone should already come with Apple CarPlay on it, but you’ll likely want to make sure the operating system on the phone is updated.
  2. Plug your iPhone into the USB port in your Ford using a cable from Apple.
  3. If this is the first time you’ve connected, a pop-up will tell you that some SYNC services will be replaced while connected. You can hit Continue if you’d like to connect.
  4. Lastly, you’ll have to accept the terms and conditions that pop-up on the infotainment display.
