What We Know About a 2019 Ford Ranger and 2020 Ford Bronco
Anytime a popular model is discontinued, it is often followed by a whirlwind of rumors suggesting that the model will make a grand return in the near future. This, however, is not often the case. That being said, sometimes dreams do come true, and they’ve come true today when Ford announced the future return of two popular vehicles from the brand’s past: the 2019 Ford Ranger and the 2020 Ford Bronco. Though details are slim, here is what we know so far about these future models.
To start with, as you can tell, the return of the Ranger and Bronco won’t be for a few years yet. Still, time flies and it’s exciting to know that these models will make a return to the Ford lineup before we know it.
Both will be built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant and will enter the North American market. As expected, the Ranger will fall into the midsize pickup truck segment, adding a fun-to-drive option for buyers that will also be priced affordably. The Bronco is said to be a midsize utility vehicle offering 4×4 capabilities, something like an SUV but no doubt standing out in a class of its own. Though practical, it will be suitable for thrill seekers who prefer their roads to have no limits.

“We’ve heard our customers loud and clear. They want a new generation of vehicles that are incredibly capable yet fun to drive.” – Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of The Americas
Why Did Ford Discontinue the Bronco and Ranger?
So, why would Ford discontinue such popular models in the first place? That’s a good question, but one that is tough to answer. Either way, the resurrection of these two vehicles is sure to excite Ford enthusiasts.
The Bronco was discontinued in 1996 and was replaced by the Ford Expedition. The Expedition is still offered today, leading Ford’s SUV lineup as a large and capable option with four-doors rather than the Bronco’s classic two doors. But, with the SUV and crossover segments booming, bringing back the adventurous Bronco just makes sense.
As for the Ranger, it is a nameplate that still exists in other markets around the world, but the model was removed from the Ford lineup here in the United States after the 2011 model year. It was replaced by the efficient F-150s that come equipped with EcoBoost technology in their engine. But, like the crossover market, pickup trucks are also booming here in the US, so a small, fun-to-drive option that is practical without being too bulky is sure to attract some attention.
Though there are few details about the 2019 Ford Ranger and 2020 Ford Bronco, this is certainly exciting news. Make sure you check back to the Holiday Ford blog for more of the latest news on these two models, as we will share what we know as soon as we know it.
