When you’re buying a truck, it’s only understandable that you might want four-wheel drive, and in that regard, the new Ranger has the options you need. It’s available as both a rear-wheel-drive and a four-wheel-drive truck. There is even an FX4 off-road package.

Beyond that, you can expect all the wonderful features that are available across a majority of the Ford lineup including SYNC 3, 4G LTE with Wi-Fi access support for up to 10 devices, a host of safety technology, and more.

Under the hood, the new Ranger is getting a proven workhorse with the latest technology. The Ranger will come standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that is optimized for both efficiency and capability. The old Ranger may have been fine with an available V6 thrumming under the hood, but this 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged powerplant will deliver torque on par with modern V6 engines.

Ford has yet to announce performance numbers for this engine, but as you can imagine Ford still has a lot of testing to do before the upcoming release date. The same goes for efficiency, but you can expect the Ranger to impress in that department. That’s because the 2.3-liter engine comes mated to an efficient and smooth 10-speed automatic transmission.

When will the new Ford Ranger be available?

It’s still pretty early yet, and bringing a whole new model back nationally is challenging. Even so, Ford has an estimate as to when you can expect the new Ranger. Currently, they are shooting for a release of early 2019. If you were looking for a Ford truck but wanted something smaller than the F-150, then you don’t have that much longer to wait.

If you can’t wait that long, but still need the strength of a Ford backing you up, then take a look at the rest of the Ford truck lineup. In fact, if you live in the Fond du Lac area including Beaver Dam or Slinger, Holiday Ford is the perfect place to buy a tough Ford truck.
