Oshkosh Polar Plunge 2015
If you’re looking for information about the Oshkosh Polar Plunge 2015, we’ve got the details and registration information you’re looking for right here.
Each year, resilient and courageous residents from Oshkosh and beyond unite to brave the cold and raise money for charity. We think it’s a great event, and the Special Olympics of Wisconsin is an excellent charity to raise money for. Here are the details if you’re interested in participating, donating, or just learning more about what it’s all about:
What: The event is actually a two-parter for those who choose to make even more of a commitment — You can do either the plunge by itself or the Freezin’ for a Reason 5K and THEN plunge into ice cold Lake Winnebago. It’s also an option to just do the run, but we think you may as well dive all the way in.
When: February 21st, 2015, registration starts at 10am, 9am if you’re doing the 5K. Also don’t miss the prior evening’s Polar Plunge Bash from 5;30 to 9pm in the entertainment tent — No cover, bands, specials, and cake!
Why: Fair enough question. Runners and plungers are going to these lengths (and depths) to raise funds (through donations gathered ahead of time that cover registration and as much as a participant is able to raise beyond that is certainly welcome) for the Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
Where: The Polar Plunge in Oshkosh is held in Menominee Park at Miller’s Bay at Hazel and Irving Avenue. Here’s a map of the running route for 5K participants.
How much: It’s $75 a person for the plunge only, $30 for the 5K only, and $100 for both. There’s no money due at the time of registration and you can use fundraising to cover the entire cost or as much as you’d like to raise.
If you want to help fundraise and participate in the event but are not into running or jumping into cold water, there’s an option for you called Too Chicken to Plunge that allows you to collect donations and have fun on the day of the event without taking the actual plunge.
We encourage you to participate in this fun event for a good cause!
