Why does my Ford shut off when I use the Remote Start Feature?
Remote start is one of our favorite options in a Ford vehicle. It is by no means a new one, it’s actually been available in one form or another for a while, but it has gotten better and is so useful. Sometimes there can be issues that pop up, and if you find yourself asking “why does my Ford shut off when I use the Remote Start Feature,” then our post on troubleshooting Ford remote start can help!
Troubleshooting Ford Remote Start
There’s two main reasons why a Ford remote start system isn’t working exactly as you think it should be. The first is a pretty easy fix that won’t cost you a thing! If you get into your Ford that’s been started remotely, and push the start button or turn the key, does it shut off? Well, this is because on some Ford remote start systems you actually need to press the brake when doing this. Give this another go. Start your vehicle with your key fob, and before you insert the key or press the ignition button, try pressing the brake down.

The other issue that pops up from time to time is that the vehicle shuts off after a door is opened. As you can imagine, this is pretty inconvenient and probably not what you want going on with your car! This might sound bad, but it should be pretty easy for us to fix at our service shop in Fond du Lac, WI! Checkout the video below for a tutorial on how to use the Remote Start System.
Advantages of a Remote Start System
There’s many advantages of remote start, but our favorite is how useful it is during extreme cold or heat. We love setting a vehicle to automatically cool or warm the interior to make it the perfect temperature by the time you’re ready to leave. This also means no longer being late because of windows not being defrosted!
