How does Adaptive Steering work in the Ford Super Duty?
Adaptive Steering is a class-exclusive feature in the Ford Super Duty that makes driving and steering easier at all speeds. The system detects what speed you’re driving at and will either increase or decrease your steering ratio to better match your situation. Essentially, it is adjusting the sensitivity of your steering wheel’s effect on your steering.
The steering ratio can be changed by up to 30 percent, meaning a significant decrease in driver fatigue at low speeds — especially if you’re on the work site. At high speeds, you might notice that the system provides a smoother experience, which is especially useful when towing at highway speeds — which can be further improved by engaging the Tow/Haul mode in the Ford Super Duty.

So what does this look like in action? It can be difficult to imagine in your head, and the best way to understand it is probably getting behind the wheel for a test drive, but thankfully Ford has released a video that demonstrates the idea of Adaptive Steering pretty well. It even shows a side-by-side comparison of how the Super Duty handles with the feature both on and off — and there is a very noticeable difference in how much the wheel moves!
