What do the driving modes in the 2017 F-150 Raptor do?

The Ford F-150 Raptor is built to handle any situation you throw it in — but each circumstance can present you with a whole different set of driving difficulties. For instance: highway driving and rock crawling are definitely not the same and they require a different approach. For those who want to take on a variety of challenges in their truck, the Ford F-150 Raptor has a wide variety of driving modes — which alters how it performs to best tackle a task.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Driving Mode descriptions

Normal

This is what you’ll use for your daily drive in the city or on the highway. The F-150 Raptor drives exceptionally, and this mode is tuned specifically for the road.

Sport

Envious over those Mustang owners who get to zip around winding roads and mountain passes? No longer! Sport mode in the F-150 Raptor increases your throttle response and keeps you in the power band by the transmission holding its gears longer.


Weather

The F-150 Raptor with Weather mode is great when conditions become slippery outside, since it automatically engage 4×4 and adjusts the throttle response.

Mud/Sand

This is the perfect mode for an off-road adventure. The F-150 Raptor gets set to 4 High for the 4×4 mode, and the steering is adjusted for a more comfortable navigation along tighter trails or over objects.

Baja

This mode really sets the Raptor apart. It gives you the performance you need for high-speed desert racing by putting the truck in 4 High, using the least intrusive AdvanceTrac settings, and other adjustments, like quicker shifting.

Rock Crawl

This is for the off-roaders who like to take their truck where few vehicles can venture. The Raptor is in 4 Low mode and settings are set for optimal rock climbing traction and control.
