Earlier we wrote a blog where we talked about the upcoming Ford Fusion performance trim that had been spotted out in the world doing some test drives, however, it looks like the new Fusion will be sporting a different trim suffix than the ST — like the performance models for the Focus and Fiesta. Instead, it will go by the Ford Fusion Sport, which we think fits it pretty well and is more apt. Take a look below if you want to know what’s different in the Ford Fusion Sport Trim!
2017 Ford Fusion Sport Trim Specs
In our earlier speculative post about the Ford Fusion Sport, we wrote that it was expected to come with more than 300 horsepower in the final model — and that looks like to be correct, if not a little too modest with the guess. The 2017 Ford Fusion Sport Trim is expected to come powered by 325 horsepower and 350 lb-ft. of torque — with a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 doing the heavy lifting. Not only does this compare well to the competition, but outpaces it — even against comparable premium models.

What transmission will be in the 2017 Ford Fusion Sport?
Instead of a traditional automatic shifter, Ford went with a new rotary gear shift dial that give the cabin even more space for its passengers. We’re not going to lie, we were hoping that the 2017 Ford Fusion Sport would come with a manual transmission, but on second thought we think Ford made the right decision with this one. The manual is great for the smaller, lighter models like the Focus ST and Fiesta ST, but the Fusion Sport has a different purpose. It’s a larger, premium ride that’s packing a punch under the hood.
