How to set up Ford Pro Trailer Backup Assist Since its debut on the 2016 Ford F-150, people have been asking about Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The feature is still going strong on the 2018 F-150 models. We will tell you how to set up Ford Pro Trailer Backup Assist including how to get started and how to make the necessary measurements. Setting up your Ford with Pro Trailer Backup Assist With a system this advanced, there is some setup involved. First, you will need to connect your trailer on level ground. Make sure your vehicle and trailer are in line with one another. Pulling forward a little bit can correct any misalignments. Now you can begin programming inside your vehicle by pressing the center of your Pro Trailer Backup Assist dial. With the controls on the steering wheel, you can now name your trailer so that the settings will be saved for future use. It will then ask you several questions about your trailer including brake type, brake effort, trailer setup, and finally it will ask you if you want to add Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and here you want to select yes. Follow the instructions that the screen provides. Once it tells you to place the placement sticker, you’ll have to get back out, and put the sticker facing upward on a flat horizontal surface of your trailer’s tongue between 7” and 22” from the ball hitch as shown in the included picture. Now we can move on to measurements. What measurements do you need to set up Pro Trailer Backup Assist? In all, you will need four measurements. First, you will need to measure the horizontal distance between the license plate of your Ford to the center of the hitch ball. Now you will need to measure the horizontal distance from the center of the hitch ball to the center of the placement sticker. You will also have to measure from the center of the sticker to the Pro Trailer Backup Assist Camera located under your tailgate latch. The final measurement depends on the number of axles your trailer has. For single axle trailers, measure from the tailgate to the center of the trailer axle. For double axle trailers, measure from the tailgate to the center point between both axles. 2018 Ford F-150 with attached trailer and Pro Trailer Backup Assist plate to ball measurement 2018 Ford F-150 with attached trailer and Pro Trailer Backup Assist sticker to camera measurement 2018 Ford F-150 with attached trailer and Pro Trailer Backup Assist trailer axle measurement Now, you just have to input all the measurements using the same controls as before. The system will then attempt to locate the sticker with a red circle. If it’s correct, then just follow the next few steps on your display and your done. If the sticker is not circled, double check all your measurements and try again.
How to fix a Ford backup camera
What to do if your Ford backup camera is not working Is your Ford backup camera acting funny or not working at all? We can help you learn what to do if your Ford backup camera is not working. Our troubleshooting guide may save you a trip to the mechanic. Keep you, your family, and your car safe and keep your back up camera operating properly. 2018 Ford Expedition with Pro Trailer Backup AssistHow to fix a blurry backup camera? If your backup camera is just blurry, then the fix is likely very simple. You just need to clean your camera. This can be best done with a clean microfiber cloth, but you can even do it with the tip of your finger. Just locate the camera, typically above your license plate and give it a wipe. Read More: Does your Ford require synthetic oil? In the winter months, you may want to get in the habit of cleaning your backup camera every time before you get into your car. Due to its position in the back, it can pick up all manner of road dirt and gunk including snow, salt, or sand. If your camera is perfectly clean, but it’s still blurry, then there may be an internal problem or a problem with the lens. At that point, you should take your car in to see a mechanic. It could be a minor fix, and if your Ford is still under its basic bumper-to-bumper warranty, it should be covered. What to do if your backup camera displays a black picture There are a few things this could be. For starters, it could still mean your backup camera is dirty. If a big glob of something managed to cover the lens, you will not be able to see anything, but if there is nothing obstructing the view then there are a few other things you can try. First, try bringing your Ford to a stop and putting it in drive or park. Does your infotainment screen go back to displaying its normal interface? Then try putting the car in reverse again to see if you get a video feed. If your infotainment screen is always black or if cycling your gears didn’t fix the dead feed, then turn your car completely off, let it sit for a minute or two, and then turn it back on. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, then you will need to get a mechanic involved.
Can You Mix Synthetic and Non-synthetic Oil?
Can You Mix Synthetic and Non-Synthetic Oil? When researching the types of oil for your Ford, have you asked yourself, "Can I mix synthetic oil and non-synthetic oil?" Then you have nothing to worry about. Synthetic oil is entirely compatible with regular oil and synthetic blend oil. So now you're probably wondering, "Does my Ford require full-synthetic oil?" Continue reading on to find out. Synthetic vs. Non-Synthetic Oil: Which is Best for My Ford? Synthetic oil is the highest quality of oil available on the market, but it’s also the most expensive. At the bottom of the list is regular oil. There is also a synthetic blend oil, which—as its name suggests—is comprised of both regular oil and synthetic oil in a specified blend. With that said, you should use at least the type of oil recommended by your Ford’s manual. Sometimes there is also a sticker under the hood that will assist you in picking the right type of oil with the right viscosity. For the most part, modern Fords at least require synthetic-blend oil, but check your manual to be sure. You can always use better oil in your engine too, especially if you want to preserve the longevity of your engine. For example, if your manual recommends you use synthetic-blend oil, then you can feel free to use full-synthetic oil. Differences of Synthetic Oil vs. Non-Synthetic Oil Unlike non-synthetic oil, full synthetic oil is actually formulated in a lab and not refined from the crude oil that comes out of the ground. By formulating full-synthetic oil in this way, manufacturers can create longer polymer chains that provide more protection to your engine and take longer to break down. Does my Ford Diesel Require a Special Kind of Oil? There is a common misconception that diesel engines do not require oil because they use diesel fuel as the oil. This is simply not true. The diesel fuel does have lubricating properties and is tolerated better by crankcase oil, but your diesel engine still needs oil. Most diesel vehicles require a specially formulated oil. Once again, just make sure you are following the recommended advice either in your owner’s manual or under your hood to avoid doing damage to your engine. What is the Best Brand of Oil to Use for Your Ford? If you want to use the most trusted Ford brand, then why not use the same brand that Ford puts in all its vehicles from the factory? That brand would be Motorcraft. If you are in the Fond du Lac, WI area, including Beaver Dam and Slinger, then you should come to Holiday Ford. All you need to do is follow the simple step-by-step guide that we have provided down below. Swing your foot, forward then backward, underneath the center of the rear bumper, in the same location as your license plate. Next, take a step or two back so that the liftgate has space to open. The liftgate will wait briefly to allow you time to do so. Once you’ve put your cargo in the back of your Ford, you can press the liftgate close button on the liftgate, or simply swing your foot underneath the bumper once more. Either way will work. Keep in mind that the liftgate can also be opened using your key fob, through a button on the instrument panel or using the button on the liftgate handle. Plus, the one exception to the guide above is for vehicles with an available trailer tow package, you can swing your foot under the bumper to the left or right of the tow hitch. How to Fold Down Your Ford's Rear Seats
How to Fold or Adjust 2nd and 3rd Row Seats In Your Ford Your Ford vehicle is designed so that you can get the most out of it regardless of what your driving needs might be. When it comes to the seats in your Ford, the 2nd and 3rd rows are designed to be able to fold or adjust, depending on your passenger or cargo needs. Let us show you how to do it. How to Fold Down the Rear Seats In Your Ford One of the easiest ways to fold down the rear seats in your Ford, if your model is equipped with the capability, is through the third row power fold feature. You’ll know your vehicle has it if you’re able to locate the power fold buttons located behind the third row. With these buttons, you’ll be able to put your third row of seats in a number of configurations. In addition to adjusting the seats flat into the stow position for cargo storage, you’re also able to put them in a fold, tailgate or normal seating position. Your vehicle may also have a second row power fold button with tumble control, which will cause the second row seat back to fold forward and then cause the entire seat to tumble forward to make room for more storage space. Those without the automatic controls can do the same thing with the second row of seats using a lever located on the side of the seat. Those who need to manually fold the third row of seats can also do so easily. First, pull the strap behind the third row seats to fold the head restraints down. Then, you can fold the seat back down by pulling on the red No. 1 strap, while using the black No. 2 strap to fold the seats all the way into the floor. How to Adjust the Seating Position In the 2nd Row Ford Seats The second row seats in your vehicle may also be able to be adjusted for passenger seating space and comfort. For example, you may notice that your second row seats have an adjustment bar located beneath the seat, which can be pulled up on to release the seat and allow it to slide forward or backward. But sometimes new tech like this can be a little confusing, especially if your Oil Life Monitor does not say 100 percent after an Oil Change. What to do if the Oil Life Monitor doesn’t reset after Oil Change Did you just get your Ford an oil change to keep it running great, but the Oil Life Monitor is still saying that it’s time for another one? There is an easy explanation for this — the Oil Life Monitor needs to be reset when an oil change is performed. See how you could save on your next Oil Change with our Coupons! It then uses this information to calculate the optimal time to change your oil — which can far exceed 5,000 miles these days. It does, however, require that you or the technician who changed your oil reset the system so it can begin keeping track from 100 percent again. How to Reset the Oil Life Monitor in a Ford Even if you forget to reset the oil life monitoring system for a bit after you change your oil, you can actually set it to 90 percent, 80 percent, or any other number just to ensure that your next change isn’t too late.
